AI for CMOs
Is our marketing data good enough for AI?
SimplSolutions editorial team · AI tools · 10/6/2026

Inspect a small sample
Take records from a recent campaign and trace them back to their sources. Can your team explain how the lead was created, what the stage means and which date is being reported?
Fix definitions first
If sales and marketing use different meanings for qualified lead, an AI summary cannot reconcile them without a decision from your team. Write the definition and name its owner.
Use this readiness checklist
- Required fields are consistently populated.
- Duplicates have a documented treatment.
- Stage changes and timestamps are understood.
- Source owners can correct errors.
- Access is appropriate for the proposed use.
- Missing or uncertain values remain visible.

Avoid false precision
An elegant chart can conceal incomplete inputs. Ask the analyst to show exclusions and uncertainty alongside the conclusion. Do not let the system fill missing business facts with guesses.
Start with one dataset
Fix a bounded source and test a specific question. Connecting every database before resolving basic definitions increases the amount of confusion available to summarize.
This week's action
Review ten records with the people who create and use them. Document the first recurring error and who will fix it.
Discussion behind the question
This is original practical guidance prompted by a public discussion theme, not a claim that the poster represents all CMOs. Read the source discussion.
