AI for CMOs
Which AI marketing tools are actually worth buying?

Buy for a task, not a category
"We need AI" is not a buying requirement. "We need reviewed product emails prepared from current specifications" is. Name the output, frequency, owner and systems involved before looking at demos.
Use a small scorecard
| Question | Evidence to request |
|---|---|
| Can it finish our task? | A test using approved sample inputs |
| How much review is needed? | Editor time and rejected drafts |
| Can we control access? | Documented permissions and admin controls |
| Can we leave? | Export format and deletion process |
| What is the full cost? | Usage, setup and maintenance assumptions |
Run the awkward example
Use an outdated offer, a missing fact and a request outside the tool's role. A polished easy-case demo tells you very little about exceptions.

Illustrative editorial image, not a customer result.
Avoid the common trap
Do not give a vendor private records just to evaluate convenience. Start with approved or synthetic material and involve the appropriate security reviewer before connecting systems.
Make a decision
Choose the tool that meets your defined standard at an acceptable total cost. Choosing none is valid when your current tools already do the job.
Discussion behind the question
This is original practical guidance prompted by a public discussion theme, not a claim that the poster represents all CMOs. Read the source discussion.
