AI for CMOs
Can AI help us understand customers without inventing insights?
SimplSolutions editorial team · Pipeline & customers · 10/6/2026

Begin with permitted evidence
Use approved interview notes, support themes or survey responses. Remove unnecessary identifiers and confirm that the material is suitable for the tool and purpose before uploading it.
Ask for a traceable summary
Request themes with links or references to the underlying material. Require uncertain or conflicting findings to remain visible. A theme without supporting evidence is a hypothesis, not an insight.
Test the interpretation
- Read the original comments behind each theme.
- Check whether price complaints were confused with service complaints.
- Count distinct sources so one vocal customer does not become an apparent consensus.
- Preserve contradictions instead of removing inconvenient evidence.

Avoid synthetic certainty
An AI-generated customer persona may help brainstorm questions. It does not prove what your actual buyers believe or want. Do not present simulated responses as research participants.
Use the output to ask better questions
Turn gaps into interview prompts, such as "What happened immediately before you stopped using the service?" Validate them with real people and appropriate research methods.
This week's action
Summarize a small approved set, check every theme against its source, and label the remaining assumptions for follow-up.
Discussion behind the question
This is original practical guidance prompted by a public discussion theme, not a claim that the poster represents all CMOs. Read the source discussion.
